THE CHALET

What's the Deal with the
Chalet

Linda and Melinda are finished at the chalet and we
are now on auto pilot during the day and in the evenings. The wonderful
gang of mostly retirees who saved the club thousands of dollars by
volunteering to staff the chalet for the entire season are now on long term
leave. A well deserved leave I might add. So how do we
work from now on? Everyone will still be skiing .. there's tons of
snow ... conditions are great ... so how will we operate? I had a
chat with Doug today while touring and this is the deal. Kenny will
be working for the remainder of this coming week and then he will provide
us with a few free days the following week. Because we don't have
staff on we will not be formally offering rentals and day passes anymore,
however some of us who worked as chalet attendants all season, may
wish to sell day passes if we happen to be hanging out at the chalet
having a chat and a person arrives begging us to buy a pass and get rentals
to go skiing. Other seasoned chalet volunteers may wish to follow the
same practice. or they may say:
"I'M DONE .. TAKE THIS JOB AND TUCK BEHIND THE
WOODSTOVE! I'M NOT WORKIN' HERE NO MORE!"
We will also ask everyone to chip in at throwing a log on
the fire and keeping an eye out at the chalet. There is usually someone in
and out of the chalet all day so we hope that people will help out ... because
folks, we may be skiing until May.
