SNOWY OWL RUMBLE......and this is how it all began.......

Well, I got this email from Graham Oliver the other day about the Snowy Owl and how the Toutons (name of Kippens team) were going to take the Snowy Owl Cup......well,,,,,that got me mad...for one I didn't like the name he pegged on us Stephenville crowd................here is what he said....(in case you didn't read the email and are inclined to delete such rubbish)

Kippens and East Toutons Gearing up For Victory at the Snowy Owl ... Could Elizabeth Chaisson Please Polish the Cup Before She Presents It!
Well the Toutons are certainly getting organized for this weekend's Snowy Owl Classic and we have no doubt that we will once again hoist the Snowy Owl Cup high above our noggins. In fact, our friendly rivals Stephenville and East Slowpokes, are not even serious contenders. Now there is no doubt that the Mc Beach Bunch have a string tradition of winning the prestigious Snowy Owl Cup. But they have been rather shy contenders over the last few years and since they have undergone amalgamation with Stephenville and East they seem incapable of mounting a charge. Well ... I suppose Ivan Mac Donald could give Stephen Penney a boost if his battery died one on one of these frosty mornings, but I thye can't be taken serious to mount a REAL charge. Oh I should not be so hard on my ski brethren, after all they are an earnest crowd and with a little coaxing we might get a few of them to rally. Now the Blow-Me-Down Blowouts are always a dark horse. One never knows who they will bring along to the Snowy Owl and seeing as we usually offer them a correction factor for travelling, they may indeed give us Toutons a run for our ski wax. But, they like Stephenville and East, can't be taken as serious contenders either. The Toutons are tickled pink about our latest, skier extraordinaire Mr. Carrrrtttttteeerrrrr Pooooowwwweeers. Mr. Powers has had a storied career in skiing and he is expected to bring some extra punch to our ranks. Not that we need any extra punch of course. With the Hunt's and Burt's from Port au Port and a large gaggle of striders from Spruce and Birch and Cedar and of course the Moores from Bayview and Bert Young and the Forcey Crowd ... well let's say the list goes on and on and the crowd from Stephenville and East gets less and less and less. In fact, I'd be surprised if the only skiers that show up for the Stephenville and East jurisdiction is Rona and Ellen and Faye from Stephenville Crossing.
Now Easterners ... let it be said that the gauntlet has been thrown down! We look forward to meeting you at the start of the Snowy Owl Classic on Saturday. Just though I'd let you know, we have already appointed the latest addition to the Burt family, namely Grace the youngest Whaleback member, to accept the Snowy Owl Cup on our behalf ...... I think Elizabeth Chaission traditionally presents it to us ... yes yes ... it is Elizabeth ... so Liz could you polish 'ere up! That would be very thoughtful of you.
